Resources and Events for All Abilities

We strive to make the library a welcoming place for people of all abilities and offer many opportunities for families to enjoy the library. If your child needs a quiet space, our Sensory Break Room is equipped with comfortable seating and calming lighting to help children younger than 18  regulate their emotions.

On Wednesday, January 31, caregivers looking to better understand their neurodivergent child will find resources and strategies in our Understanding Neurodivergent Children Workshop, and we're offering a sensory-friendly viewing of Shrek on Saturday, February 3.

Muslim American Heritage Month

In 2022, Illinois celebrated the first-ever Muslim American Heritage Month. This month-long observance recognizes the contributions of Muslims to American society, culture, and innovation.

This year, we're commemorating the month with a family book discussion on Salat in Secret by Jamilah Tompkins-Bigelow and a workshop for teens on Traditional Glass Painting.  If you're interested in exploring Muslim authors and filmmakers, see our Muslim Voices lists
